Gourmet
I agree on how branding and logos can make or break weather a product sells or not. In this instance, it wasn't even about how man shamefully sold an already bought product.

Logo Design Love- When logos look too much alike.
The article I read can be found here: http://www.logodesignlove.com/similar-original-logos
This was a pretty interesting article not only for it's good explanation of the topic, but for the excellent visual proof that it used. The article makes a great point, not all logo's are the most original and chances are, if you've had a design of a logo you made yourself then it's likely that someone else has done it before.
I also like the wise words section where the article says: “Tell yourself at every step in the design process that someone has undoubtedly already thought of this and what can you do to really set it apart. In design, and particularly logo design, the pessimistic axiom that “everything has already been done” is becoming more and more true, and it is only the virtuous designer who can continue to stand out in a sea of sameness.”
